Change is as good as a rest!
There may be a scary, deadly virus out there and as terrifying as that is, a more powerful force exists that gives no fucks about any microscopic complication – menstruation! Unless you are a lucky lady with the five year implant, the delights of your period are a monthly reminder of how fierce our vaginas are!
Pass the ice cream or else…
As side-effects, the hormonal roller coaster brings some interesting emotional shifts and cravings. For me, it is a cross between watching non-stop WWII documentaries and/or international real estate shows while eating as much meat, chocolate and carbs as I can stuff into one single meal. All with big bag of homegrown cannabis at the ready!
Not the only thing untrimmed in the house!
Period time at my house means outta-my-way I am getting high, eating chocolate, binge watching shows – what about you? What if you are worried about stuff other than the budget for an Italian vacation property? What if the waste from your monthly situation is getting you down? Fear not my eco-warriors, there are always options!
Eco-friendly alternatives for dealing with your period
Sold me the Italian dream!
There are two options that are the most mainstream and widely available: The cup and the reusable pad. For me personally, I am 100% Team Cup! There are a few different name brands, the most common one I have come across in Canada is the Diva Cup. https://divacup.com/
I am 100% team Diva cup!
This Thursday (May 7th 2020) my friend Rowen Kazmer will be the representative for Team Pad. She brings her sensible wisdom and local product recommendation! Her go-to choice of product is from Garden of Eden reusables: https://gardenofedenreusables.com/collections/reusable-pads-accessories
Garden of Eden Reusables
Both options have their pros and cons and it comes down to personal choice.
Team Cup
- Pro Cup: great for travel, easy to clean
- Con Cup: the learning curve for ease of use – if you are uncomfortable touching your pussy a lot or worried about getting blood on your hands, this might not be for you.
Team Pad
- Pro Pad: less touching and interaction
- Con Pad: You have to wash it out every time!
Either choice makes economic and environmental sense!
What about Cannabis?
Well, I for one love cannabis! For situations like cramps there are always new cannabis based products for helping with pain. The more research that is conducted, the more we are learning about how the endocannabinoid system interacts with the female reproductive system. When it comes to menstrual pain there are cannabis products available that can help! Cannabis based suppositories can be used to treat those side effects that makes your period so bloody (ha!) awful. Cramps are the worst and using a cannabis suppository might be the right option for you!
As your sister-on-the-sofa, I am assuring you that you do not need to suffer in silence or alone! If you have questions about reusable, eco-friendly products, period pain or cannabis, drop me a line! I am always ready to book a free 20 minute call or schedule a more one on one session. Don’t forget to check out our video watch party this Thursday May 7th!
