How can Cannabis help with
menopause symptoms?
Have you been searching for accessible information about menopause? Instead of lots of scary medical definitions that basically give you a panic attack – how about a sisterly chat? I know talking menopause is still a hush-hush topic. One of my childhood memories was seeing a huddle of my family members whispering about “going through the change”. Even saying the word menopause was like saying a dangerous, magical word. A word that had the power to bring a lot of nodding of sympathy and hushed conversations.
Time for shift in thinking! Let’s put down the fear and put on some lady armor (make mine a 40F m’lord.) Face the beast head on! Like Harry Potter bravely saying the name Voldemort, I will say menopause loud and proud rather than be quiet and sad about about it! Let’s slay this dragon together!
What exactly is menopause?
In simplest terms, menopause is a decrease in the production of hormones estrogen and progesterone. Our bodies are transforming towards our next stage of life. As with all change, there are side effects and they will impact your life. The most common are:
- hot flashes
- mood swings
- bone density decreasing
- greater risk of heart attack or stroke
- lack of sexual libido
- vaginal dryness
- insomnia
Well that sounds pretty depressing ….damn
It is a sad fact only 1 in 5 women actually talk to their doctor about menopause! As your sister-on-the-sofa, I am telling you it is ok to speak up! You are in charge of your body and it is important that you let your doctor know when you know things are different. Granted, the medical community isn’t much help either. It spends twice as much money studying “penile disfunction” than trying to figure out why I can now sweat through a blizzard. Even worse, now I am dealing with suddenly having dry “lady-bits” when I used to have a lush mango! Where did my mango go??? I WANT MY MANGO BACK!!
Cannabis and Sexual performance
Why is it that when you have your life together suddenly you have the Sahara desert between your thighs? What happened to my lady garden? Having a dry vagina when you have a willing mind is one of the cruelest of all the menopause side effects! Hope is not lost, there are alternatives out there. Luckily, now there are scientific studies that show THC and CBD products can help with increasing the “natural secretions” and that is great news!
Recently published scientific studies confirm that cannabis can help with a variety of menopause side-effects. Wow! For example, THC has a role in moderating body temperature! According to the science, THC plays a part in keeping us cool (link below for those more scientifically minded) meaning those hot flashes can be controlled by consuming cannabis with THC! No more need to sweat it out naked on the porch! Be naked on your own terms dammit! Cannabis is a leafy way to better sex!
